In a clip from a BBC documentary Anthony Joshua can be seen driving to his old gym to give a £95,000 BMW to his first boxing coach at Finchley ABC in Barnet, Shaun Murphy.
On the way he recounts how boxing changed his life when he was younger and stopped him from going down a bad route in terms of crime and delinquent behaviour.
And he accredits his coach Shaun for getting him on the right path saying: “Sean would say, ‘Shut up, get on the bags, stop talking’. He told me to stay focused.”
“These guys will always have their door open for me, no matter what. I’ll never forget who has been there when no one was.”
The video portrays the heartwarming moment that 27-year-old Anthony Joshua presented the car, leaving Murphy completely stunned.
After the boxing superstar pointed out the personalised registration plate which has Shaun Murphy’s name on it, he said: “F*** off!, seriously?”
“I’ll be scared to drive it. I remember Josh telling me a long time ago: ‘I’ll look after you’.”
“But him just winning a world title is enough for me. I can’t believe it, it’s too nice, thank you. Inside I am jumping up and down.”
