According to our source most of the females who auditioned were “standard Indian girls” and “Urban types” who didn’t fit the role. But Herman stood out of the crowd with her distinct look.

It’s the latest rumour to come out of the project after news emerged that cinematographer Greig Fraser would be working with Villeneuve instead of his previous choice in Roger Deakins (Sicario, Blade Runner 2049).

With almost 40,000 followers on Instagram, she’s modelled for big names like L’Oreal, Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch.

It has been confirmed that she auditioned for the role on Twitter where she commented on a link about the casting call for the character ‘Chani,’ described as looking for actresses of “Middle Eastern, African, or Latin/Hispanic descent.”

Trying to break in to an acting career, if rumors are true, this would make her the first unknown to be cast in the Dune movie and the second female cast member after Rebecca Ferguson was chosen to play Jessica, mother of the lead character. Herman would play alongside Chalamet as the the love interest and blue-eyed Fremen warrior ‘Chani’ on the desert planet of Arrakis.

Here’s a few things you need to know.

She’s no stranger to deserts
